![]() You can catch the boat right in front of the Many Glacier Hotel. ![]() The beginning of the hike is the most crowded area because many hike toward Iceberg Lake or the Ptarmigan Tunnel as a day hike. Iceberg Lake is stunningly beautiful, has icebergs floating in it, and was extremely cold. As you get closer to Iceberg Lake, there will be a beautiful small looking lake in the distance to your right-this lake is not Iceberg Lake. You can reduce 4.5 miles of hiking by opting for this scenic boat ride. This 20-mile overnight trip starts from the Many Glacier area and leads through a beautiful part of Glacier National Park up to the Canadian border. There is then a point where hikers turn left to go to Iceberg Lake and away from the Ptarmigan trail. You may even see a moose taking a swim across the lake while you paddle.įor a shortcut to the above viewpoint, there’s also a boat option straight to Josephine Lake. ![]() Starting at the Many Glacier Hotel, you’ll also have the opportunity to hike past Swiftcurrent and Josephine Lakes before making your way uphill. If hiking all this distance isn’t quite your speed, don’t worry, the viewpoint above is reachable just 3.5 – 4 miles along the trail. The full trail to Grinnell Glacier is a total of 11.2 miles and over 2,000 feet in elevation gain. It comes from continuing on to Grinnell Glacier. The best photo of Grinnell Lake isn’t on the trail to the lake itself though. It is also likely the most touristy trail on this list. The Grinnell Lake Trail is a 7.1 mile loop with stunning views.
